'Burren Farm Cottages' offers accommodation in two separate self-catering holiday cottages, just 2.5 miles (4km) from the village of Kilfenora in County Clare, adjacent to the world famous Burren Region, with its spectacular landscape, and an abundance of flora and fauna, including several unusual species. 'The Old Farmhouse' is located on our family run dairy farm in the heart of the Irish countryside, while the second holiday cottage, 'Green Meadows', is less than a mile away.
These self-catering holiday houses are suitable for people seeking peace and tranquillity, and also for families with children. Visitors are welcome to take part in milking our herd of British Freisan cows, or to collect eggs for breakfast from our little clutch of hens.
"The scenery is breath taking and the cottage is just perfect. We enjoyed the peat fireplace, a peaceful nights rest, hearing the cuckoo sing and our friendly neighbors the cows. We really felt like we experienced the best of Ireland here.”

The area is peaceful and relaxing, situated well away from traffic noise and light pollution – on clear nights, the clarity of the sky and stars is breath-taking. However it is still within easy reach of a wide variety of amenities and attractions. We provide information folders and the maps in each cottage, offering information on local attractions, as well as contact details and emergency numbers.
From Kilfenora, you can drive right through the heart of the Burren to the Aillwee Cave and Ballyvaughan, or you can follow the coast road from the fishing village of Doolin via the beach of Fanore to Ballyvaughan, one of the most scenic coastal drives in the country if not the world! Doolin has a long heritage of musical association - it was home to tin whistle player Micho Russell, after whom an annual weekend festival is named, and is famed for its traditional Irish music sessions. An annual folk festival and beer festival have recently been added to its attactions, and day trips to the Aran Islands are available from here.
The spectacular Cliffs of Moher, which have featured in both Harry Potter and The Princess Bride, are situated just south of Doolin, and are the second most popular visitor attraction in Ireland. A couple of miles on, you will arrive in Lahinch with its beautiful beach and highly-acclaimed championship golf links. Surfing is hugely popular here and several schools and rental companies can provide everyone from the complete beginner to the seasoned surfer with everything you need.
"The location was superb, great access to Burren walks and coastal regions ensuring great variety of day trips."

If you like fishing, Lickeen Lake is nearby as is Inchiquin Lake at Corofin. If sea fishing appeals to you more, the Atlantic coastline is within easy reach. Fishing from the shore is popular all along the coast of Clare, while chartered deep-sea angling trips can be arranged from Carrigaholt, in West Clare.
"Marian and Martin were even able to teach us a little bit of Traditional Irish Set Dancing and expose us to some traditional Irish music providing us with a travel experience we definitely wouldn't have gotten if we stayed at a hotel.”

In the evenings you can enjoy traditional Irish music in the pubs of Kilfenora and other villages nearby. An authentic Ceilí with traditional music and set dancing takes place every Sunday night in Vaughans’ Barn, which is a fantastic visitor experience - we'll be happy to teach you a few steps, so you can join in yourself!
"...this comfortable, spacious farmhouse is a treat and will lull you into a softer pace of life. Here, you will find peace, deep quiet, and stunning walks. You will enjoy the artisanal local products, traditional Irish music, milk fresh from the cow and, perhaps, something fresh from Marian's oven."
